Key aspects of the role

The successful applicant will perform technical procedures and will help organise and conduct studies under the direction of the Departmental Head.
As part of a versatile and dedicated team, it is essential that you possess excellent people skills and have experience of working with members of the public. You should be well-organised and be able to manage your own time effectively.
Whilst a background in research is desirable, it is not essential. Training will be provided in all areas of research. Daily duties will include:
• Assisting in the set-up of the technical facility to receive volunteers, preparing, printing and collation of the study-related documentation.
• Assisting in the performance of technical tasks such as applying, assessing, measuring, recording of data, etc. Also in the preparation and dispensing of test materials and in directing and supporting the volunteers whilst in attendance at the study centre.
• Assist in the studies themselves, applying the test materials to the volunteers and recording relevant data.
• Assisting with processing volunteers for the studies, administrating their participation in studies.
• Contacting volunteers to recruit them for specific studies, scheduling times for their visits and performing the accordant administration on the database.
• Prepare data for reporting and study files for archiving.
• Technical conduct of studies in accordance with relevant protocols.

Essential skills:

A highly professional manner and presentable at all times
Solid written and verbal communication skills and an excellent telephone manner
Comfortable working as part of a Team
Confident with working with members of the general public
A keen eye for detail
IT literacy
Able to work some irregular hours as determined by the Study Protocol

Desirable skills:

Educational background of research desirable not essential,
Experience of working in Cosmetics, dentistry, phlebotomy and/ or photography desirable.
